What is the Korea e-Arrival Card?

What is the Korea e-Arrival Card?

Korea e-Arrival Card Source: theseoulguide

The Korea e-Arrival Card is a mandatory digital entry declaration form launched on February 24, 2025, replacing traditional paper arrival cards . It allows foreign visitors to submit their entry information online in advance, streamlining immigration procedures at Korean airports and ports. Here are some key things to know:

  • It’s 100% free (beware of third-party sites charging fees), and you don’t need to print it—immigration accesses it electronically.
  • You can submit it up to 72 hours (3 days) before your arrival in Korea (based on Korea Standard Time, KST/GMT+9), and it’s valid for 72 hours after submission.
  • If you don’t enter Korea within that window, you’ll need to resubmit.

When to Submit Korea e-Arrival Card?

When to Submit Korea e-Arrival Card?

The best time to submit is 1–2 days before your departure. This gives you enough time to fix any errors and avoids last-minute panic (or internet issues at the airport). The submission window opens 72 hours before your arrival in Korea, so you can’t submit earlier than that—but you can do it on the day of arrival if you forget (though we don’t recommend it, as it might slow down your immigration process).

  • Submission window72 hours (3 days) before arrival in Korea (based on Korea Standard Time, KST/GMT+9)
  • You can submit on:
    • The day of arrival (before immigration inspection)
    • One day prior
    • Two days prior

What if your plans change?

  • If you don't enter Korea within 72 hours of submission, your e-Arrival Card becomes invalid—you must submit a new one
  • If you change flights or accommodation after submission, resubmit a new e-Arrival Card with updated information

Korea e-Arrival Card vs. K-ETA: What’s the Difference?

Korea e-Arrival Card vs. K-ETA: What’s the Difference?

What is a K-ETA? How to apply for it? |Korea-ETA| - YouTube

A common confusion: the e-Arrival Card and K-ETA are two separate systems with totally different purposes. Here’s a clear breakdown to avoid mix-ups:

Feature

e-Arrival Card

K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization)

Purpose

Replaces paper arrival forms—declares entry info to immigration

Grants permission for visa-free entry to eligible travelers

Who Needs It

Most foreign visitors (unless exempt)

Visa-free travelers from 112 designated countries (e.g., US, EU, Australia)

Cost

Free

$10 (one-time fee for 2-year validity)

Validity

72 hours per trip (single entry)

Multiple entries over 2 years

Submission Timing

Up to 3 days before arrival

At least 72 hours before departure (to avoid delays)

Critical note: K-ETA isn’t required for kids under 17, adults 65+, or travelers with diplomatic/official visas. And if you have a valid K-ETA, you don’t need the e-Arrival Card—this is a big time-saver for frequent visitors.

Tips for a Smooth Korea e-Arrival Card Experience

Tips for a Smooth Korea e-Arrival Card Experience
  1. Stick to the official website: The only legal website for electronic entry cards is www.e-arrivalcard.go.kr. Any third-party website that charges is a scam, do not share your passport information and do not pay for this free service.
  2. Book accommodation first: If you do not have a valid address in South Korea, you cannot submit the form. Therefore, lock in your hotel or host accommodation before you start.
  3. Check your passport validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of arrival. If your passport has expired or is close to expiration, the immigration authorities will refuse entry.
  4. Use stable internet: Submit via a reliable Wi-Fi or data connection. If you are in a country with Internet restrictions, use a valid VPN to access this website.
  5. For groups: Designate 1-2 person to handle each submission, this avoids repetitive work and ensures the consistency of all information.

What Happens If You Forget to Submit Korea e-Arrival Card?

  • Don't panic: If you arrive in Korea without submitting an e-Arrival Card, you can:
    1. Fill out the electronic entry card online at the airport before entering the country (airports usually offer free Wi-Fi).
    2. Fill out the paper entry card at the immigration office (by December 2025)
  • Important: Both the paper and electronic versions are equally valid during the transition period (until December 31, 2025). After this date, only electronic arrival cards will be accepted.

Location: The location is very convenient. From the lobby on the first floor, you can access the subway station directly. From the basement, there's another subway entrance and a Starbucks across the street. You can walk through a passage straight to Myeongdong Shopping Street. Cleanliness: Although it's a bit old, it's kept very clean. Room Size: The room is not big. Soundproofing: Excellent. Room Amenities: The bed is incredibly comfortable; it's very easy to fall asleep on it. Value for money: For this location, it's really great value. Staying for 3 nights for 6400 RMB was definitely worth it.

This Four Seasons has a pretty good location, but the property itself feels a bit dated. Breakfast is served in the basement, and the dim lighting there didn't create a great ambiance. When I ordered coffee, the server simply brought me a whole pot to pour myself. I was like, 'Are you kidding me?!' The beds in the room were a bit small and couldn't be pushed together, but since we were determined not to stay in the Jiangnan area, we just had to make do. The hairdryer in the room was absolutely terrible – you'd think a five-star hotel would have Dyson as standard by now, wouldn't you? And for four of us, they consistently only provided two hand towels 🙄. The only silver lining was the transfer driver, Jadon. Big thumbs up to him! 👍🏻 Oh, and the window writing service and the resident dog were also nice touches, which is why I still gave it 4 stars.

The front desk service attitude was decent, but it took a very, very long time. This was because the room type I booked wasn't available. They immediately suggested switching us to a lower-priced room, which we didn't agree to. The staff then kept typing away on their computer or phone, communicating with someone, until we called Ctrip ourselves. Coincidentally, they then said a room was available, claiming someone had canceled their reservation. This whole ordeal caused us to miss out on eating at the restaurant we wanted to go to that night. Plus, the shower in the room leaked severely, all the way to under the sink, making it very inconvenient to get ready.

I booked this hotel because it's convenient for Seoul Station, as I was taking the KTX to Busan the next day. I'm not sure if it was because I booked with points, but when I arrived at the hotel around 7 PM, the front desk staff were completely unenthusiastic, or rather, provided no service at all. When checking in, I asked if I could get a higher floor, but after checking in, I found I was given the lowest fifth floor. It really felt deliberate, and it was too late for me to ask for a change. When I got to the room, the AC didn't work, the room was really cold, and it faced the road, so it was incredibly noisy at night. I had originally booked a mountain view room for the last two nights of my trip back to Seoul from Busan, but with this kind of service, I immediately canceled and booked another hotel. Honestly, after staying in so many hotels, this is the first time I've ever felt like checking out the moment I checked in.

Such a great location, literally 1min walk to City circle (Green line 2) subway station in between Euljiro and Euljiro so charging to line 3 and line 5 is so convenient. Also walking distance (5min) to Gwangjang market and Chenggyechen. Eben the Airport bus right in front of hotel every 10min. Environment: The location is excellent. It's just 20 meters straight ahead from Myeongdong Subway Exit 10. The airport bus stop is only 50 meters away, Myeongdong is right behind the hotel, and the North Face building and Daiso are across the street. Service: It was just average, I didn't really experience any special service. The hotel requires check-in at 3 PM, and they stored my luggage for me. There's a self-check-in machine at the front desk, which was quite convenient and available in Chinese. Facilities: It's definitely an older hotel. You absolutely need to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste, as the hotel doesn't provide them. They cost ₩1000 if you need to buy them.

Facilities: I felt very safe. You need a password to reach your room's floor before taking the subway. It's self-check-in, and the staff all speak Chinese and are very nice. Cleanliness: Pretty good. Environment: Perhaps because I requested a quiet location in advance, my room was in a good spot. For food, you can turn left and go up the hill, and they all speak Chinese. Since I was alone, I chose soup and rice. Turn left out the door, cross the zebra crossing, and go straight to subway exit 6. I think it's the closest exit. The room was a bit small, and the bed was quite tiny. We could feel the strong winter winds coming through the window right by the bed. Pushing the beds together wasn't difficult, and the air conditioning worked well, though it was a bit windy. The cleanliness wasn't perfect; we found hair in three different spots, good thing we brought our own disposable bedding. The location is superb, with very convenient subway access. Check-in had Chinese-speaking staff, so communication wasn't an issue. They gave us Doota coupons, but what we saw there wasn't great.

This was a rather unpleasant trip. When I checked into my room, I found yellow stains on the bedding. I was too tired that night to bother with it. But the room temperature was consistently cold. At first, I thought it was just me. I had the air conditioning on since I got back to the room, set to 30 degrees Celsius, but the room felt drafty all night. I didn't pay much attention, just hoping it would eventually warm up. However, I woke up freezing at 4 AM. My feet, even under the covers, were icy cold everywhere that wasn't already warm. I got up for a drink, and the water in the glass on the table was also ice cold – yes, truly ice cold. I had no choice but to go down to the front desk to ask for a room change, telling them, 'The lobby is warmer than my room.' The front desk staff moved me to another room and brought an electric heater. But this room was right next to the road. I won't even go into the noise, as it was already 4:30 AM, and I didn't want to go back down to complain again. I put on my headphones, endured it, and managed a few hours of sleep. This room, even without the electric heater, had a decent temperature. However, when I laid out the floor towel in the morning, I again found yellow stains on it. I don't know what's going on with the laundry at this hotel. I stayed for two nights in total, and one entire night was spent dealing with these issues. The next day, I had to go buy a pair of earplugs. I won't be staying here again.

The hotel is a bit far from the city center, but compared to hotels in the city, this one offers better value for money. There's a subway station nearby, making it convenient to take the subway to various attractions. Alternatively, you can download a Korean ride-hailing app to book a car in advance or call one instantly, which is very handy, especially for larger groups of more than five people. There are also many restaurants around the hotel, offering all sorts of Korean delicacies – you just need to take a short walk to find them! The hotel front desk staff speak English and are warm and attentive. We booked two rooms: one king room and one twin room. The twin room had one queen-sized bed and one single bed, accommodating three people, and also featured a balcony. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and quite spacious, and the water temperature was just right. We particularly loved the hotel's shampoo and conditioner; our hair felt incredibly smooth after using them – we really want to know the brand! 😄 The hotel's buffet breakfast didn't have a huge variety, but the food tasted good. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay!

I stayed at the Koreana Hotel and here is my honest feedback: The Good: The location is excellent and very close to the Metro. It is also very convenient to reach Incheon International Airport using the 6701 Limousine Bus. The rooms are large and have great natural light. Areas for improvement: The hotel is very old (from 1972) and it doesn't look like it has been renovated. Everything feels outdated. The staff could be more attentive and friendly. The breakfast should include more healthy and nutritious options. Basic amenities were missing, such as disposable slippers and body lotion.

Easy to find. Just a short walk through an alley after getting off the bus. The hotel offers a free shuttle to Myeongdong, and the front desk staff speaks Chinese. Breakfast is decent, though more Western-style and not quite comparable to hotels in China. The room is very clean. The toilet has many buttons, but it doesn't have automatic heating or flushing; you still have to use the knob to flush. It's a strange mix of advanced and not-so-advanced features. The Sky Room's layout made the room feel a bit small, and I couldn't see N Seoul Tower from the window. I think a double room would have made it easier to unpack my luggage. The location, however, is very convenient. It's about a five-minute walk from Euljiro 3-ga Station (Line 2), Exit 12, and about a 10-minute walk to Myeongdong. I recently stayed at the Royal Hotel Seoul in Myeongdong, and overall, it’s a solid choice if you want convenience, comfort, and easy access to everything in the city. The location is definitely the hotel’s biggest advantage — you step right out into the heart of Myeongdong where shops, street food stalls, cafés, and subway stations are all just a few minutes away. It’s incredibly easy to explore Seoul from here. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, though on the smaller side, which is common in busy city-center hotels. The bed was comfortable, and housekeeping did a great job keeping the room tidy throughout the stay. The décor leans a bit more classic than modern, but everything functions well. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially during check-in and when handling luggage. They responded quickly to requests and were polite throughout the stay. However, a few service inconsistencies were noticeable — nothing major, but some guests might pick up on it. Facilities are decent but not standout. The breakfast was okay, though the selection felt limited for the price. The lounge and common areas are clean but could use a refresh. Some bathroom layouts also feel a little dated, and water pressure/temperature can vary at times. Overall, Royal Hotel Seoul is best for travelers who want to be right in the center of the action and value convenience above everything else. If you prioritize bigger rooms or modern luxury, you might find it a bit modest. But for location, cleanliness, and a comfortable stay, it’s a reliable option in Myeongdong.

The hotel is about a 50-minute drive from Incheon Airport. The nearest subway station is Mapo Station, roughly 200-300 meters away, and Gongdeok Station is also within walking distance. Right outside the main entrance, there's a bus stop, which is convenient. However, there aren't many shopping areas nearby. The closest ones are Yeouido Department Store and Times Square Yeongdeungpo, but neither is particularly great for shopping. If I were to visit again, I'd probably choose to stay in Myeongdong or somewhere closer to Gangnam. Gangnam is excellent for shopping, but traffic is bad and accommodation is expensive, so Myeongdong would also be a good option as it's close to duty-free shops. This hotel isn't very close to shopping areas, and it's quite a hassle to travel back and forth. My advice would be to stay in the area where you plan to do most of your shopping. Regarding the hotel facilities themselves, although it looked a bit old at first glance, it was actually very functional during my stay. For instance, the room was a good size, had plenty of mirrors, and was very quiet with no AC noise. There were lots of charging ports and outlets, the smart toilet worked great, and there was a bathtub with excellent water pressure. The bed was comfortable. So, for 600 won a night, I was quite satisfied with the price.

This stay truly exceeded my expectations! The front desk lady checked me in super fast and even thoughtfully recommended nearby restaurants and tourist routes. The room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was so soft, I had a great night's sleep. The breakfast spread was incredibly rich, with both Western and Chinese options, and tasted delicious. At checkout, they even proactively asked if I needed help calling a taxi. The entire experience was fantastic, and I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm here! The hotel's gym and laundry room are open 24/7, which is perfect for business travelers. Excellent value for money, definitely a five-star rating!

Facilities: The room was quite comfortable. I was hoping for a quieter stay, so I chose a room at the end of the hallway, but unfortunately, the ladies next door were still noisy late at night, and the soundproofing was a bit disappointing. Service: The staff were all very friendly and greeted me every time. The lobby had self-service coffee, luggage weighing, and express check-out. The luggage storage service was also good. Cleanliness: Good. The clothing spray provided was a thoughtful touch; it smelled lovely. I forgot to take a picture of the brand.

Second stay here, definitely our top choice in Myeongdong! The location is excellent; you step right out into Shinsegae Department Store, and it's super close to Myeongdong Shopping Street and Lotte. There's a subway station right outside, making it incredibly convenient for eating and exploring. More importantly, the facilities and cleanliness are superior to other older hotels in Myeongdong. When you're traveling, a comfortable stay is really important!

Very good hotel, comfortable and clean! Staff are very very friendly, the room was a bit small if you have many languages, we are 2 people with 4 bags it was a bit of struggle but if you have less bags it will be perfect for you to stay! The bar also was in rooftop which has indoors and outdoors, outdoor view was amazing!

The room was great, and the hotel itself is very reliable. Its location in the middle of Yeouido is fantastic, just a few minutes' walk from the Han River. It was raining that day, but I still went for a jog along the river in the light drizzle. When I returned to the hotel, I saw many people working out in the gym. Personally, I prefer outdoor running, but I do enjoy hitting the gym for some strength training. The hotel has several restaurants; the steakhouse dinner was decent, nothing spectacular. It takes over an hour to get to Incheon Airport by subway, and Seoul's traffic isn't always the best, so I'd recommend allowing at least an hour and a half for your trip to the airport.

This is a great hotel, although the rooms are a bit small. The front desk was a little cold during check-in and didn't offer much information. However, during our two-day stay, the service was impeccable and thought-out. For example, at 9:30 PM, when we were buying snacks at the convenience store by the main entrance, the shuttle bus driver proactively asked if we wanted a ride up (we didn't even know there was a shuttle, as the front desk hadn't mentioned it). And you absolutely *must* try the bakery on the first floor – it's Seoul's number one French patisserie.

Location: Connected to Yongsan Station by a skybridge, the hotel is a convenient 5-minute walk away. Yongsan Station is only two stops from Seoul Station. An Uber from Incheon Airport costs about 250 RMB and takes approximately an hour, which is also very convenient. Room: This is almost the largest hotel room I've ever stayed in, at 40 square meters. It features a two-seater sofa and a recliner, plus a kitchen. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area. The bed was a bit small, probably only 80 cm. Service: The front desk staff was incredibly beautiful, just like Korean celebrities, and they even gave us a room with a view of Namsan Tower. So grateful! Environment: Novotel Suites and Novotel are in the same building, but their elevators are separate, so be sure to note the distinction. Value for money: For New Year's Day in Seoul, it was just over 800 RMB per night. Although breakfast wasn't included, for such a great location and a spacious room, it was an incredible value. Highly recommend! I hope to experience the breakfast next time.

I am glad to stay at this hotel during my 5-day stay in Seoul. The location is good, walkable to Dongdaemum wholesale market and shopping plazas. If you plan to or want mid-night shopping, this is a good location. Facilities are good, 24-hr complimentary coffee and tea is available at the lobby floor. Staffs are helpful and speaks good English. Room is a bit tiny but still good enough to open up 2 suitcases. Room and facilities are clean. Just the housekeeping lady forgot to give me the bottle water until the last day; however, drinking water machine is available in the corridor as well. Bascially I am very satisfied with my stay. Going to Incheon airport is convenient too, airport bus stop is just outside the hotel, less than 1 min walking. Just allow extra time for the traffic within the city, but at least better than taking airport train with the luggages. I will recommend this to friends, and if I will stay here again for next travel.

Staff at reception and housekeeping were friendly and helpful, in particular this lady called June. Room was spacious enough to open up two big luggages and still have room to walk. TV channel options were plentiful, and the bed was comfortable. Location was superb, with the entrance to exit 12 of Euljiro sam ga station just right in front of the station, a short 10 min walk to the main myeongdong shopping area, and the airport limousine bus stop just less than a 5 min walk away. Bakeries, convenience stores and cafes are also in the vicinity. Unfortunately, our bathroom had a drain fly infestation with flies on the ceiling, on the shower walls, and some which made their way to the bedroom. The TV remote control wasn’t working well despite a change of batteries, which could mean that the remote control itself was faulty itself - we had difficulties using the arrow buttons to search on YouTube. Elevators could take up to 10-15 mins to arrive during peak morning hours, and you may not get to board even when it does as it will signal a weight capacity issue and will not close the door unless you come out - this is especially so when there’s passengers with luggages. Room 1701 btw. Nonetheless, the pros outweigh the cons and I would choose to stay here again.

Just a few minutes' walk from Changhanpyeong Station. There are convenience stores, Daiso, and restaurants nearby. The triple room was spacious enough for three 28-inch suitcases. The bathroom had a separate shower and toilet, which was great. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.
