What is the Korea Tax Refund?

How Much is Korea Tax Refund Rate?

While the VAT is 10%, your actual cash back will be between 4% and 7% after the refund agency (like Global Blue or Global Tax Free) takes their processing fee.

• Minimum Purchase: You must spend at least 15,000 KRW in a single transaction at a participating store.

2. Downtown/City Refund

If the store doesn't offer immediate deductions, they will give you a Tax Refund Slip.

• Where: Look for self-service kiosks in Myeongdong, Hongdae, or major malls.
• Requirement: You'll need your passport and a credit card as a "guarantee" while you remain in the country.

3. Airport/Seaport Refund

For high-value items (over 1,000,000 KRW) or receipts from stores without kiosks.

• Step 1: Before checking your luggage, go to the Customs Declaration counter or kiosk.
• Step 2: Scan your passport and receipts.
• Step 3: If the kiosk shows an "X," a customs officer must physically inspect your items. If it shows an "O," proceed to the departure gate to collect your cash.
