I’m so glad I chose the Mehood Elegant Hotel. It was the perfect location — close to everything, not too crowded, yet not too remote either. I traveled solo with my 14-month-old toddler, and he was absolutely spoiled by all the hotel staff. Everyone treated us with so much kindness and care.
Jerry checked us in and out and even gave me a cute fridge magnet. The breakfast was delicious with so many options to choose from, the rooms were cleaned daily, and bottled water was always replenished.
Xiao Jun also took great care of us, and Yinhe Juan felt like an auntie to us. We looked forward to seeing them every morning at breakfast. They all made my stay feel so warm and welcoming — truly like a home away from home.
I’m incredibly grateful for their hospitality, and if I ever find myself back in Shanghai again, I’ll definitely be booking Mehood.

This summer, I took my grandson on a magical journey to Shanghai Disneyland, and as always, we chose the Grand Tower at Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai. It's always been my 'white moonlight' hotel, irreplaceable in my heart. As a classic Shanghai landmark hotel, its overall standard is consistently high. The environment, room facilities, service, and dining all offer a commendable comprehensive experience. The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet had a surprising variety of options. My only slight regret is that the cream cakes, sashimi, and smoked salmon, which used to be available at breakfast, are no longer offered. I assume this might be due to menu adjustments.
On the evening of our arrival, the temperature was quite high, and we checked in rather late. Front desk staff members Ella and Leia were warm and friendly, making us feel very comfortable. A special thank you to Ella, who carefully directed us towards the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and Super Brand Mall, and also thoroughly explained the hotel's dining arrangements. Her service was comprehensive and thoughtful.

Stayed for four nights and it was a very comfortable hotel.
Transportation: It's very close to the train station, making travel around the area very convenient. It's also only a 15-minute ride to the Bund. The subway station is about two traffic lights away from the hotel (a 5-8 minute walk). One day, I took my child to Disneyland, and a taxi ride took 45 minutes.
Facilities: You can tell it's been renovated and upgraded. The smart toilet was convenient, and the hairdryer was a Laifen. The swimming pool was bright and comfortable; my child wanted to swim there every day during our stay.
Service: The service was warm and friendly. The room was cleaned thoroughly every day, which always put me in a good mood when I returned; the concierge proactively helped with luggage and was very responsive with car services.
Suggestion: During peak breakfast hours, I recommend adding a seating service. Over the weekend, there was a corporate event, and the number of diners surged. It was hard to find a table, and the staff weren't very proactive in clearing tables. I suggest improving service awareness in this area.From€105

I booked the hotel simply wanting a relaxing break, and it totally exceeded my expectations! The hotel environment is fantastic. Even with the rain, it didn't detract from the beauty; if anything, it enhanced the therapeutic vibe. A unique touch was using the room key to tap a jade stone by the door to enter. The hotel has so many thoughtful little service details. In the morning, they subtly leave a warm 'good morning' drink outside your door. In the evening, there's a turndown service with snacks and hot tea—very considerate! The room is gorgeous. It's a shame it was raining and a bit hot outside, so I didn't get to relax on the balcony. I first stayed at this hotel before I was married, and now I've returned with my two children. The cleanliness, ambiance, and location are still excellent, just as I remembered. The only thing that has changed, and not for the better, is the service and management.
Firstly, upon arrival, the concierge desk was completely empty. Guests had to haul their own luggage and children to check-in. At the front desk, there was a female employee who seemed like it was her first day on the job; she provided no information about breakfast, the hot springs, shuttle times, or even game machine tokens. My child wanted to exchange a toy, and it took three trips to the lobby and a six-hour wait to resolve the issue. Each time, all she said was, 'Sorry, we were just busy.' We were the only family in the entire lobby, so I have no idea what she was busy with.
Secondly, another male employee was also completely devoid of any human empathy. After 11 AM, the shuttle runs only once an hour, but before 11 AM, it can depart at any time. We arrived at the front desk just before 11 AM to request a departure, and this employee falsely claimed the driver was out to lunch and couldn't leave. As we were about to leave the hotel on foot, we saw the shuttle right outside with the driver inside. The driver then went back to the lobby to try and communicate for us, but the front desk employee still refused to let the shuttle leave.
Thirdly, on our first night, guests upstairs watched the World Cup until late, causing noise from midnight until 2 AM. I repeatedly tried to communicate with the front desk, but they insisted there was no noise, claiming it was thunder outside, which was laughable. The location is located in the forest but there's no light surrounding during night . There are 3 pet dogs who live nearby (one of them is friendly). During winters the place is almost empty. Each room is calm a provides a retreat for a peaceful vacation. The Breakfast lady is nice and hospitable. Breakfast included milk, croissant , a pastry an egg and a bowl of wontons. Since it was taken over by Jinjiang and rebranded as Kunlun, the service has seen a slight difference, though overall it still meets five-star standards. The staff are proactive in greeting guests. The main issues lie with the afternoon tea and happy hour. For afternoon tea, the Puerh tea was already dry. As for the happy hour noodles, I'm not sure what the chef was thinking – they were cooked, then cooked again, left to sit, and then cooked one more time when ordered. Do they think all guests are grandmas?
**Facilities:** My room was upgraded for free, and it was very spacious. The only drawback is that you have to step into the bathtub to use the shower, which isn't ideal, but it's understandable given the hotel's 90s foundational layout.

The location is excellent, right opposite the SMG building, and within walking distance of HKRI Taikoo Hui, Zhangyuan, and Wujiang Road commercial areas. It's super convenient for shopping and getting around. You can also pop into MUJI at Taikoo Hui B2. We stayed in a king-size room, which was a good size. The mattress was just right, not too soft or too hard, and the thin duvet was very comfortable. The sofa area was spacious, perfect for our small family of four. The pool water was clean, and it wasn't crowded, so it was a good experience. Parking seems to be shared with Taikoo Hui, but we didn't drive this time.
The breakfast selection was quite rich. The chef was friendly and proactively asked if I wanted noodles. I tried the abalone noodles with dressing, but I guess I'm just not used to that flavor. I saw a pancake station but couldn't find anyone making Thai pancakes, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, the service attitude was acceptable, but it lacked initiative. We weren't offered drinks upon entering, and tables and cutlery weren't cleared promptly enough.
The Tom Yum Goong soup for lunch was excellent and went very well with rice. However, the dishes were a bit pricey. The 188 RMB voucher from Trip.com came in handy, improving the value for money. The hotel's location is excellent, and cleanliness wasn't an issue.
However, the facilities had some significant drawbacks. The bathroom door was very problematic; the toilet and shower shared the same glass door, which was extremely difficult to slide and very inconvenient (as shown in the picture). There were too few power outlets, making charging devices a hassle. The light switches weren't clearly marked, and the night light shone directly into your eyes.
Regarding service, the younger male front desk staff member was rude and unprofessional. When I checked in, I wasn't the only guest, and he was impatient and impolite with everyone, not using any basic pleasantries. He also didn't inform me about any of the hotel's facilities; I had to find the laundry room myself later. At one point, a hotel call came in to the female staff member opposite him. She wasn't sure about the situation, hung up, and then asked the male staff member, who directly mocked the guest who had called for inquiries – that was completely out of line. He also made a point of pretending to be busy with other things (even though guests could see his screen and he clearly wasn't busy) before grudgingly responding to guest requests.
Although the hotel's physical amenities aren't a major issue, I will not be staying here again due to the service attitude. Being next to a university, I'm sure they won't miss one guest.From€64

I've found a real gem in this modern tower. The hotel occupies floors 15 to 18, and the reception is a 10/10 – the staff are super friendly, they offer coffee, tea, and little pastries, and there's also a very comfortable coworking area.
The rooms are like a small studio with a kitchenette: microwave, washing machine, dryer, a full-size fridge, and plenty of closet space. The bed and pillows are extremely comfortable, and the shower… wow! The water pressure is amazing, absolutely wonderful. The door is floor-to-ceiling, so steam from long showers doesn't escape into the rest of the room. The sink area is a bit small, but it's fine for one or two people. Special mention: the magnifying mirror and the Japanese toilet – a real luxury that I really appreciated.
We were so comfortable that we ended up extending our stay by 3 more days.
The only downside: the metro is about 1 km away, maybe a bit more. But the value for money is so good that what you save on the hotel easily covers a taxi ride. From now on, this will be my go-to place in Shanghai.
