We had an excellent stay at Kai Wah, with a few instances really worth mentioning. Firstly, we had a super early flight and reached the hotel at 5plus in the morning. We checked in and wonder if we are able to check in for the stay at such early hours. Without needing to ask, the service staff immediately arranged a room for us to check in, even though the typical check in time is 2pm onwards. They understood that we were tired from the flight and quickly make arrangements so that we can get some rest. This is an exceptional service that illustrates understanding and care for their customers. Secondly, upon checking into the room, we observed that the toilet bowl was a little dirty and called the reception. Immediately, a service staff named 李星Jeff Li, came to our room and made arrangements to offer us a free upgrade to a suite. However, as we prefer a room that is not situated at the corner, we declined. He then made other arrangements on the spot and offered us another room. He even helped us to transfer the luggages. We needed some advice for the trip and he willingly and patiently offered us advice and assistance. His friendliness and patience with us really made our stay very pleasant. His professionalism and care for his guests are commendable. Finally, when we checked out, the service staff also warmly helped us with the didi booking to the right place. My mum was even given a scarf as little present, which really made her day. Breakfast was really good, huge variety and quality was good too. Suggest to include breakfast in your booking.

After reading numerous reviews, I felt the hotel's location was great and the breakfast was good, suggesting that as an established five-star property, it should be decent. However, many negative reviews mentioned outdated facilities, which made me quite apprehensive upon arrival. My check-in experience wasn't great. We arrived a little after 1 PM, but our room wasn't ready yet, still being cleaned. We were asked to store our luggage and return later to check in after we had gone out. After we went out for lunch, it was around 2:30 PM and the room still wasn't ready. The elderly and children in our group were quite tired. They managed to sort it out within ten minutes after that, but then we had issues with the room key cards. I was initially quite disappointed, but once we got to the room, I found the facilities weren't as dated as some reviews suggested. The room felt quite spacious, and the amenities were decent – much better than I had anticipated. The balcony offered a direct view of Nanqiang Street Night Market, which was bustling with food stalls, and it was also very close to the old town. Later, a staff member helped deliver our luggage to the room with a very good attitude. They explained that during peak season, with many tourists, service might not always be perfect, and I decided to be understanding about it. The service for the remaining two days of our stay was excellent. The breakfast was indeed impressive. There was a rich selection of hot and cold dishes, including local Yunnan specialties like freshly prepared rice noodles. They also had a good array of Western-style simple meals, delicious porridge, and a wide variety of salads. A special mention goes to their 'flower cakes' (鲜花饼); they were clearly freshly baked and absolutely far superior to any we found outside. We even bought four boxes to take home. The complimentary water provided was local mineral water, which was surprisingly pleasant. Overall, I'd say the value for money was good, and my entire family was very satisfied with our stay.

The hotel's location is excellent. Our family of five, across three generations, stayed here during the Mid-Autumn Festival and received a warm greeting from the hotel, complete with mooncakes as a welcome gift. It really made us feel like we could celebrate the holiday even away from home! 😀 The hotel is a bit older, but the facilities are all complete and convenient. The breakfast was incredibly rich and offered a variety of Yunnan delicacies. We enjoyed roasted milk fan, 'xiaoguo liangfen' (small-pot cold noodles), cold fruit salads, and finally got to try the 'xi doufen' (thin pea jelly) I'd been craving for ages. My culinary journey was truly complete! 😄 We also explored the nearby Kunming Old Street and the farmer's market (just a three-minute walk). We happily headed home with freshly purchased 'erkuai' (rice cakes) and rice noodles! We'll definitely stay here again next time we're in Kunming. ☺️

I stayed at Cachet Boutique Hotel Kunming on 25–26 October and had a wonderful experience. The hotel is located a little away from the main pedestrian street, but the area around it has plenty of lively bars and cafés that attract a younger crowd — great if you enjoy a vibrant atmosphere. The hotel itself was clean, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully designed. I was really impressed by the stylish decor, quality amenities, and the spacious room layout. We were also pleasantly surprised to receive a free room upgrade, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Checking in/out was fast and hassle free. As an additional benefit, the hotel is located 10 minutes from the train station. Overall, it’s excellent value for money — I’d definitely recommend Cachet Boutique Hotel to anyone visiting Kunming who’s looking for comfort, style, and a touch of local charm.

I absolutely loved the hotel's ambiance; the decor was very charming and tasteful. Although the room didn't feature smart devices, all the essentials were present. The entire room was carpeted, providing excellent soundproofing, which ensured a quiet night's sleep. My mother tends to get up at night, and the small night light in the room made her feel very secure. The hotel's service was also outstanding. We encountered a minor issue upon arrival, but the staff were highly resourceful and offered several effective solutions. What's even better is the hotel's superb location, directly opposite Cuihu Hotel and with Huanggongdong Street right behind it – it's absolutely perfect for city walks. We stayed for three days, and each evening we were provided with bedtime drinks and small snacks. I will definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit.

My main purpose for visiting Kunming this time was to escape the summer heat, relax, and explore the local food scene, so I chose a hotel right next to Kunming Old Street. It's an established five-star hotel, showing its age a bit, but that also gives it a reassuring sense of reliability. The rooms are standard, nothing fancy, but the blue skies and white clouds outside the window were beautiful every day. The complimentary welcome fruits and snacks were plentiful and even included lollipops, which made me feel like the hotel puts a special emphasis on families with children. There's a kids' play area on the floor, and the buffet restaurant even has a dedicated children's dining section. The breakfast was the biggest highlight – rich, delicious, and featuring many Yunnan specialty dishes. Just be sure to avoid peak times. The hotel's location is unbeatable. Nanping Walking Street, Nanqiang Street, and Jinma Biji Archway are all within walking distance, and ride-sharing services are readily available, with pickups almost instantaneous.

The front desk staff were incredibly patient and thorough during check-in, proactively explaining the spa's opening hours and the best times to visit. The room was even more of a pleasant surprise; it was spotlessly clean with no overlooked areas, and decorated to feel warm and cozy. The complimentary welcome fruit in the room was fresh, and the flowers were a lovely touch. My absolute favorite part was the hotel offering unlimited free access to the hot springs – I could go anytime I wanted, which was just amazing! The water was genuine thermal spring water, and after a soak, I felt completely refreshed, with all my fatigue instantly gone. Breakfast didn't disappoint either; the variety was fantastic, with hot dishes, cold dishes, pastries, and drinks all available, and the taste was spot-on, catering to everyone's preferences. From service to facilities and dining, everything about this stay was impeccable. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in the area.

Chenggong New District/South High-Speed Railway Station Kunming|24.15km from city center
To be honest, it was not a good accommodation experience. The price of the hotel is not proportional to the facilities and services provided. I called the front desk before checking in to find out the route to the hotel. The telephone line at the front desk was loose and I couldn't even hear what I said (you can listen to the recording). When I checked in, I asked the front desk to call a taxi for the next morning, and the answer was that I could call a taxi by myself. After I moved into the room, I wanted to put the food in the small refrigerator in the room, but the refrigerator didn't work. I asked the maintenance worker to check and found that there was no socket behind the refrigerator. The refrigerator was just a decoration. I had to put the refrigerator in the bathroom and plug it in (it was too noisy in the room). The socket at the head of the bed was very loose after a long time. The plug often fell off when it was inserted. I booked a room with hot spring service, but it didn't specify that I had to bring my own swimming trunks. I needed to spend another 50 yuan to buy swimming trunks on site. In short, the service and facilities of your hotel need to be improved. In addition, a glass on the washstand was broken due to moving the refrigerator. I explained the situation to the front desk the next morning, and the front desk waiter was very reasonable and exempted from compensation. Thank you for this.

The hotel is in a good location, very close to Kunming Botanical Garden and next to Yunnan Agricultural University. The environment of the Agricultural University is not inferior to that of the Botanical Garden, with green trees and a good place for walking. Although the hotel is a certain age, it is well maintained and does not feel old at all. It is clean and tidy. The flower arrangements and landscape shapes everywhere are very artistic. The service is also very good. Every employee I met greeted me with a smile. I especially want to praise the housekeeper Xiao Yang. The thoughtful service left us a good impression. He arranged fruit yogurt on time every day and kept asking us if we needed anything. After a day, we seemed to have become old friends. We couldn't help but greet each other enthusiastically when we met, because I felt that Xiao Yang wanted to provide us with better service from the bottom of his heart. This sincerity is something I have never felt in other hotels. In addition, the hotel restaurant is really delicious and highly recommended. For this reason, we stayed for another day.

I chose the family room for my trip with my parents. The environment was great and the room was spacious. The location is convenient, with many dining options nearby. The service was also excellent; the front desk staff were very welcoming during check-in. The only downside is that the soundproofing isn't great; it was a bit noisy at night. I could clearly hear conversations and water sounds from next door. If someone uses the toilet at night, anyone sleeping outside the bathroom will definitely wake up, as the toilet flush is very loud and not soundproofed. Came to Kunming with my 6 years old. We didn’t know the hotel is inside the mall so was a little lost. But staff were very kind to come out and fetch us to the hotel. They offered to carry my big heavy luggage up to the room. That’s giving the extra mile service. The room is very culturally designed, amenities are very sufficient and breakfast is healthy and local taste. Overall I’m very happy and pleased with their friendliness and very hospitable. The hotel is near 2 attractions where we managed to walk with baidu map help. You can check it out too. The hotel is also very near to Kunming railway station just 15-20mins cab down. 谢谢帅哥美女们的细心照顾和帮助。我们住的很愉快😁

First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University/Pan Jia Wan Kunming|2.77km from city center
I stayed at this 'industrial aesthetic' hotel in Kunming. They say Kunming is a haven for slow living, and at RAW Hotel, I truly found the answer. It doesn't feel like a typical hotel; it's more like an 'unfinished' aesthetic vessel. The cool concrete is subtly softened by the warmth of sunlight and brass accents. What truly captivated me was the small balcony always peeking with greenery, where I savored the leisure of the entire city of Kunming. It's cleverly tucked away in the city's most interesting area, with the artsy Culture Lane and the lively Wenlin Street right next door. A short stroll leads you to the edge of Green Lake. Sunlight pouring through the balcony's glass doors becomes the most artistic light master, painting ever-changing scenes on the concrete walls. At night, lying in the bathtub, I could catch glimpses of the stars. The attention to detail is so obsessive that even the bathtub is pure brass, elevating the sense of ritual. The little balcony, gently embraced by greenery, was a delightful surprise. Enjoying Yunnan coffee there in the morning and a breezy drink in the evening became the most luxurious moments of my trip. Breakfast can be delivered to your room, with the fragrant aroma of 'Xiaoguo Mixian' (small pot rice noodles) or the charm of a Western breakfast waking you up every morning. After nightfall, the lobby subtly transforms into a craft beer bar. A slight buzz paired with jazz music was the perfect end to the day. This trip taught me that RAW isn't about being unrefined; it's about returning to authenticity. It's about finding the most comfortable sense of belonging in the raw.

Dianchi Lake Scenic Area/ Sunac World Kunming|8.11km from city center
I was quite hesitant when booking a hotel, but I figured Howard Johnson would be a safe bet, and it certainly didn't let us down. The hotel isn't far from Dianchi Lake, and the surroundings are very pleasant and quiet. It's convenient to get around, whether by car or shared electric scooter. There are many hotels in the vicinity, including some more upscale options, but I think Howard Johnson offers pretty good value for money. Our room even came with a terrace, which was a lovely touch. The only slight downside was that some of the facilities felt a bit dated, but otherwise, everything else was great.

The front desk staff was very friendly and polite, and they even upgraded my room free of charge. The room was clean and well-equipped. It was a great value, and the location was excellent, near Kunming Station. They even gave me a gift when I left the hotel. I'd definitely stay here again!
