We booked this eco-friendly hotel for 3 nights. The hotel is very conveniently located: there's a metro station nearby, as well as two shopping centres. The hotel is large, but there was quiet and peaceful.
The view from the window was beautiful, even despite the typhoon that was hitting Shanghai these days (our room was on the 12th floor. We chose the hotel because of its location and good breakfasts. The breakfasts were really very delicious and tasty.
There was both Chinese and European food. A wide selection of fruits: watermelons, melons, apricots, mangoes, bananas, dragon fruit. There were many different pastries, several types of yogurts, even matcha yogurt.
Also, at the exit from the restaurant, there was a Candy Bar with chewy marmalade: you can put the marmalade in a small bag.
The room had everything, including a capsule coffee machine, an ironing board, and an iron, which is very convenient. l'd especially like to mention the eco-friendly slippers, which really stand out from the slippers in other hotels: they're very comfortable. The location is located in the forest but there's no light surrounding during night . There are 3 pet dogs who live nearby (one of them is friendly). During winters the place is almost empty. Best for solo or couple travels. Sauna in winter is a must try. Overall the room needs a little repairing but it's not that noticable. The rooms are pretty large and provide all amenities. Each room is calm a provides a retreat for a peaceful vacation. The Breakfast lady is nice and hospitable. Breakfast included milk, croissant , a pastry an egg and a bowl of wontons. All snacks and fruits provided in room are complimentary. Overall a nice place for short weekend trip. In morning one can have a morning walk around forest or bike ( during winters the bike become a bit rusty though). The place also provides Kayaking in the nearby lake for 100 RMB / 3 hrs . It's best to enjoy kayaking in summers. Will visit here again. Also the place doesn't provide dinner but there are 2 nearby places providing good food. She was incredibly responsible and stayed in touch with us throughout our stay, from check-in to check-out, helping us with a lot of things! The sensor light in the wardrobe was broken and stayed on constantly, which was a bit bothersome, especially at night when it affected my sleep. Honestly, this hotel🏨 is perfect in every way except for the price. We stayed in a connecting suite, which is essentially two rooms connected by a living room. It was very convenient for a family. As connecting rooms are in the executive area, the stay included breakfast, afternoon tea, and a light dinner. If you don't need to entertain, having a light meal at the hotel is quite nice. The air conditioning in the hotel was incredibly strong, to the point where I got stomach cramps from being frozen for the last two days😭. In the evenings, the hotel has an old-fashioned 'senior' music hall, where 70-year-olds perform. The gentleman playing the piano looked very familiar to me, and later the staff said he had been on CCTV, haha! My parents loved listening to the old songs. The music hall has a minimum spend of around 400 RMB per person! The hotel also has an afternoon tea dance hall where many people dance ballroom, which is quite interesting. On the 9th floor, there's an outdoor bar with amazing views of the Huangpu River and the Oriental Pearl Tower at night. The hotel also has a museum detailing its history from its inception to the present day, which is quite fascinating. There are daily guided tours, which are pretty fun to listen to. My daughter and I even took a set of beautiful photos with the hotel's old pictures. I truly hope the Peace Hotel continues to thrive.FromAU$424

On the second day, I switched to a executive king room. The Jin Mao Tower goes up to the 88th floor, but the top floors are for tourist sightseeing and skywalks. The hotel itself only goes up to the 85th floor, and the highest guest rooms are on the 84th. I was on the executive floor, which allowed me multiple entries to the executive lounge throughout the day. It was very luxurious, and the food was fresh. The Diplomatic Suite is incredibly spacious, offering fantastic views from the 25th floor. The overall design style is classic and dignified, feeling grand rather than dated.
All room amenities worked perfectly; the TV allowed screen mirroring, and the massage tub, coffee machine, and Bluetooth speaker were all easy to use. The bedding was comfortable, the sofa was large, and the living room and dining area had huge floor-to-ceiling windows. The bedroom offered views from two sides, allowing us to watch the shimmering reflections on the Huangpu River during the day, and at night, enjoy an unobstructed view of the Bund's architectural clusters, Waibaidu Bridge, and the illuminated North Bund.
The hotel staff were warm and polite, housekeeping kept the room spotless, and the turndown service was thoughtful. Room service deserves special praise – you can order anytime, and it usually arrives within 30 minutes. The burgers, fried noodles, pasta, cakes, and Chinese dishes all tasted excellent.
