The place was crowded with locals and tourists from other cities of China and overseas. Super hot in june and most Pandas were stayed indoor in their air conditioned room on the day of my virst. Too bad I was unable to see many of them. Especially the star panda 'hua hua' which visitors need to come early to queue for the viewing (see stock photo as reference). But overall it was still a delightful experience despite the high temperature and the place is worth visiting due to its ambience and overwhelming cuteness of Panda power.

Panda Breeding & Conservation at Chengdu Base

Panda Breeding & Conservation at Chengdu Base

The base is a global leader in giant panda breeding, with a 90% success rate in captive breeding. Key conservation efforts include:

  • Cub Rearing: Newborn pandas are cared for in nurseries (mothers often raise one cub, while the other is hand-reared to ensure survival). Cubs stay in nurseries until they’re 1–2 years old, when they move to adult villas.
  • Wildness Training: Selected pandas undergo training in the base’s “Panda Valley” (a separate facility) to prepare for potential reintroduction to the wild.
  • Research Collaboration: The base partners with international organizations (e.g., WWF) to study panda genetics, diet, and habitat protection—helping to increase the wild panda population from 1,114 (1988) to over 1,800 today.

The hotel is super convenient, right by the subway exit, less than 50 meters away, so it's really easy to find. You can get to Tianfu Square in just one stop to transfer to other lines. It's great value for money, and my room was upgraded, so it was quite spacious and comfortable to sleep in. They offer a variety of pillows to choose from, and the Gongfu tea set was a nice touch.

Originally planned one night at the Crowne Plaza. A big shout-out to front desk staff member Xiao Qu for checking my IHG membership and upgrading me to a high-floor king room, which was a lovely experience. They even provided hand warmers and a coffee voucher upon check-in. The room was bright and comfortable. I ended up extending my entire 3-day stay at the Crowne Plaza! This stay at the ParcVue Hotel Chengdu was exceptional in every way. I reserved two rooms, and both were handled with the same level of precision, care, and attention to detail that defines truly great hospitality. This room was a Deluxe King Room, and it was spacious, quiet, and impeccably maintained, with a layout and comfort level that made it easy to truly relax. Lucas once again stood out as a defining part of the experience. His professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine care ensured that everything across both rooms was perfectly coordinated. He has a rare ability to make service feel personal rather than procedural, and his presence elevated the entire stay in a way that is immediately noticeable. What impressed me most was the consistency throughout the hotel. From housekeeping to the front desk, every interaction reflected pride, warmth, and intention. The service was intuitive rather than reactive, and the overall experience felt effortless. This stay further confirmed that the ParcVue is not just a luxury hotel, but a place that truly understands hospitality. I would choose it again without hesitation.

It's been exactly ten years since my last stay at this Ritz-Carlton. I came to Chengdu with my then-girlfriend, and we had a deeply memorable experience. Ten years later, that girlfriend is now my wife, and we have a lovely child. Revisiting this place brings back so many emotions. Initially, I was a bit puzzled by the 180 RMB charge for children at the Executive Lounge, as most hotels don't have such an extra fee. However, after using it, I can honestly say it was worth every penny. Both the desserts and the main courses were excellent, but I particularly want to praise the dessert quality. It rivals Lanlizi, which is known as 'Southwest's Best French Pastry' in Chengdu, truly exceeding expectations. The service and ambiance at FLAIR bar were consistently high-standard, and the resident singer was fantastic. The Chengdu-inspired cocktails were refreshing. The pool view is nice, and the gym's cardio and strength equipment can fully satisfy a fitness enthusiast. However, some areas in the changing room were a bit dirty, and I hope for improvements there. The room maintained its usual high standards. Some areas showed a bit of age, but it was harmless. The bedding was comfortable, amenities satisfactory, and the layout reasonable. Breakfast was rich and diverse, with distinct local specialties and extremely high quality. However, the hostess's professionalism needs improvement. After giving our room number, her long deliberation over whether 'this room included breakfast,' even after we showed her our booking details, causing a significant delay in seating us, was unacceptable. We had considered staying at a newer hotel, but given the special 'ten-year' milestone, we still chose The Ritz-Carlton. It proved to be a worthy choice, both the hotel and my wife. Thank you!

The St. Regis's service, as always, is trustworthy and commendable. The day before my arrival, Lily from the hotel called to inquire about my needs. After connecting on WeChat, she promptly addressed all my requests throughout my stay. It was excellent. From the moment our car arrived at the entrance, to checking in at the front desk, the staff were proactive, warm, and polite. We stayed for three nights, and the room's cleanliness and amenities were superb. Whether it was dining or travel advice, every staff member was attentive and courteous, making our entire stay very comfortable. I particularly loved the nougat candies always placed by the bedside, and they even gave us New Year's candy as a gift! The 24-hour drink delivery service to the room was also a lovely touch. Thank you! 🌹

This stay completely exceeded my expectations; it's easily one of the most satisfying hotels I've stayed in recently. The room I stayed in was very spacious and bright, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic city views. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the bedding was soft and comfortable. Lying down, I could instantly shed all my fatigue, leading to a high-quality sleep. The bathroom had a smart wet/dry separation design, with excellent water pressure and fast hot water. We stayed for four nights, and the cleaning lady did a fantastic job every day. My daughter takes her toy panda everywhere, and when we returned to the hotel one evening, we found the panda thoughtfully tucked into bed by the cleaning lady, with its head on the pillow and a blanket over its body. This hotel came highly recommended by a friend, and from the ground floor lobby to the 15th-floor reception, you can immediately feel Hyatt's distinctive and unique design. Stepping into the room, you'll notice that all the control switches, handles, and even the tables and chairs seem a bit lower than in standard hotels. As someone from Beijing, I initially found this slightly uncomfortable, but once I got used to it, I actually found it quite interesting—a unique regional touch and thoughtful design. A special shout-out goes to the buffet at their Cafe restaurant; I ate there four times in two days! In a city renowned for its food, I think that speaks volumes about its exceptional quality. I'll be posting photos as proof soon. Secondly, the service was excellent, from the reception staff to the restaurant hosts, everyone was professional and enthusiastic. Exceeded my expectations! I'd read some reviews saying the decor was old, but perhaps everyone's standards are different. My own standards aren't particularly low, and honestly, I didn't find it old at all. In fact, it was meticulously maintained and spotless. We stepped out for about half an hour in the evening, and turndown service was already done, which really showed how efficient and dedicated the staff are. Every single employee was professional and went above and beyond, always with a warm smile. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the linens were wonderfully soft. The evening light meal at the executive lounge absolutely blew me away; the food selection was so rich and extensive, easily the best executive lounge I've ever seen. Breakfast was also fantastic, with fresh squeezed juices. The tableware they use is high quality, and the plating is very artistic. My child even said they felt very important, haha! I came to Chengdu for some work, and by the way, I looked at the May Day holiday to bring my children to play. I checked the place in advance, did a lot of strategies, and looked at many hotels. Finally, I chose this one. I didn’t expect it to be quite satisfactory. The hotel room facilities are very smart and convenient to use. The hotel location is also very good. The front desk lady also enthusiastically introduced the nearby snack routes and attractions. There are also small labels, which are very convenient for us to carry. It is a very thoughtful hotel! First of all I’ll mention that the setting was very beautiful and the rooms were wonderful. The staff were friendly and tried their best to help and make us comfortable. They went out of their way to cater to our restricted diet as well . The issues I had were the location (mostly 1.5 hours to get anywhere. Sometimes longer with traffic) and the language barrier. I can’t fault them on the language but I believe I had a lot of missed opportunities because of it (?). But if you plan on doing any activities near the city center then I would I suggest you book a different hotel and keep this one for after you are done just to relax with the beautiful scenery. My kids felt car sick every drive back to the hotel. I also felt I wasted time because of the drive when I could have used it more productively. So bottom line, would I go back? Definitely. But not if my goal is to explore the city

I absolutely loved this hotel so much. The overall concept has a very Muji Japanese-style feel, simple, calm, and beautifully designed. All the staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and always smiling. Even though there was a language barrier, they truly tried their best to help us with everything, which I really appreciated. My son accidentally left his bag in a Didi taxi, and the receptionist willingly helped us by keeping the bag safe and contacting the driver for us. Their honesty and helpfulness really touched me. The hotel is very kid-friendly, extremely clean, and comfortable. We even received a room upgrade with a private hot spring in the room. The staff took the time to patiently explain how to use the hot spring and all the facilities. The smart toilet was honestly one of the best features so cool and comfortable! The location feels a bit like a countryside area, which makes the atmosphere very chill, peaceful, and relaxing. Perfect for those who want to escape the city and enjoy a quiet stay. Overall, I truly loved everything about this hotel and would definitely come back again. ❤️

This is our fifth stay at this hotel, and both the service and facilities are top-notch. The location is fantastic, right by Chunxi Road Pedestrian Street. The hotel layout is well-designed, and the rooms are very spacious. The breakfast offers a huge variety, with different options every day, which my kids absolutely loved. The front desk also provides luggage storage, which is super convenient, and there's an SF Express next door, making it easy to send packages. This will definitely be our go-to hotel whenever we visit Chengdu. Highly recommend it!

The hotel is very centrally located, making it extremely convenient for exploring the city. The building and interiors are beautiful, with a stylish and well-thought-out design. While some areas feel slightly worn, everything is still in good condition and well maintained. The service was excellent: all the staff were very kind, friendly, and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel was also very clean, which we really appreciated. As a pleasant surprise, we were given a complimentary room upgrade to a very beautiful room, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, we were very happy with our experience and would gladly stay here again.

We stayed at the CD Yuenchi hotel for two nights in February. We arrived much earlier than our check-in time, but the staff – including Cong Li and Maoli Ran – was very accommodating as they revealed our room was indeed ready. Its location is wonderful, with the hotel blending harmoniously into the artful and historical qingyang district just a few steps away from the monastery. The main courtyard of the hotel is beautiful. With outdoor tables available at morning, afternoon, and night. On one day during our stay there was a wedding with a vibrant, elaborate display. We were welcome to watch and witness the festivities. Among other spaces, the venue includes a coffee shop, Michelin restaurant, performance, venue, gym, and spa. While we weren’t able to take advantage of all the facilities, we did enjoy a cocktail at the hotel whiskey bar which was sophisticated in design, sultry in atmosphere, and staffed by talented mixologists. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet and highly recommend the zhongshui dumplings We weren’t able to see a traditional performance at the hotel – we had seen another elsewhere in chengdu earlier that evening – but we looked in on the performance at the hotel and it appeared to feature a higher production value and more talented performers than the other performance we had seen earlier. Our stay was great. The room was eloquent and traditional in design with modern amenities. Our lodging came with a balcony that provided a serene look over an outdoor walkway. The toilet had a seat warmer and other advanced technology. All in all, it was a wonderful stay at the hotel. The staff was accommodating, the location ideal, the design beautiful, and various amenities and facilities enjoyable.

I came to Chengdu to see the pandas, visit Sanxingdui, the Chengdu Museum, and marvel at the national treasures. I'm so glad I chose this place! It's right by the Jinjiang River, and from my room, I could watch egrets flying over the park below. Getting to People's Park for tea, the museum, Huanhua Creek, or Chunxi Road was a breeze with a ride-share. The breakfast was incredibly rich and varied; their noodles were even better than some of the famous foodie spots. Next time I'm in Chengdu, I'll definitely be staying here again.

Chose a high-rise view hotel in Chengdu, and Mingyuhanya Dongmen Bridge Store was absolutely spot-on! It's located in the heart of Dongmen, just a 10-minute walk to Taikoo Li, and close to Metro Lines 2 and 3, making it convenient to go anywhere. Our room on the 41st floor offered a stunning skyline framed by a panoramic floor-to-ceiling window. By day, you can watch the bustling traffic, and by night, the city lights shimmer against the Jinjiang River – it feels like staying in a city observatory. The room is noticeably more spacious than other hotels in the same category, with soft bedding and a bathroom featuring a wet/dry separation and a bathtub, plus all the smart amenities you could need. The service was even warmer – the front desk proactively asked about parking, and the concierge uncle helped with our luggage. Highly recommend for both business and leisure travelers!

This hotel is super convenient for getting around, with Taikoo Li and Chunxi Road right on its doorstep. Plus, there are tons of local snacks downstairs. Both the hotel's service and facilities were excellent. From the front desk's attentive service to Ms. Keyuan, the cleaning lady on our 7th floor, everyone made us feel right at home during our first Chinese New Year away from home. It was a really heartwarming trip.

I've stayed at this hotel many times, and it's consistently excellent. The butler service is thoughtful, arranging a river view room on the highest floor. The bedding is comfortable and helps with sleep, as it's a KingKoil brand. The high floor gives a fantastic view. The hotel is also very conveniently located, close to everything. I'll definitely be back often!

As a trendy Marriott brand, this hotel truly stands out in Chengdu, and my stay was absolutely fantastic! It's ideally located near Financial City and Jiaozi Avenue, offering excellent accessibility. Shuangliu Airport is only about a twenty-minute drive away, and both a metro station and multiple shopping districts are practically on its doorstep. Plus, it's right next to Ufun Shopping Center and the Twin Towers, with an incredible array of dining options nearby. Whether you're looking to explore local attractions, shop, or enjoy some entertainment, this location is perfect. The hotel's public areas and guest rooms all feature unique designs with strong visual impact. The W brand's signature neon colors beautifully intertwine with elements of Shu culture throughout the property, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere that's definitely worth exploring. The top-notch service is another huge plus. The welcoming ladies were incredibly warm and attentive, especially Ava, who was exceptionally nice and made flawless arrangements for us throughout our stay, making us feel truly pampered.

The hotel's location is excellent and very convenient, just a 10-minute taxi ride from the high-speed train station. The room was clean and tidy, and the mattress was soft and comfortable, though the shower stall was a bit small. The breakfast food was delicious, offering both Western and Chinese options. The service was great; the front desk staff was very patient, and all the doormen were wonderful. It rained the two days we were in Chengdu, and every time we got in or out of a car, the staff would hold an umbrella for us, which was very heartwarming.

The room exceeded my expectations. The mattress was incredibly comfortable, and there was a round bathtub with disposable bath liners, which was perfect for a relaxing soak after a day of sightseeing. There was also a foot spa bucket with herbal packs that I didn't get a chance to use. All the water, drinks, and tea in the room were complimentary, and the environment was very quiet. Booked this place based on a recommendation from a friend, and honestly, everything was pretty good for our two-night stay. My only minor complaint was the kettle; it had a lot of dust inside when I went to use it. Perhaps it's not frequently used by guests, but it still needs to be cleaned. During our stay, we accidentally stained the sheets and a chair, and someone came very quickly to take care of it, and we were promptly informed of the outcome – excellent service. Even though we stayed for two consecutive nights, the cleaning staff were very quick to respond when they saw the 'Please clean' sign. Thumbs up!

West China Hospital and Sichuan Provincial Stadium commercial area Chengdu|1.89km from city center
I'm usually quite lazy and rarely leave reviews for hotels, but this place genuinely impressed me. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. When we mentioned we were tourists, they immediately offered a brochure detailing various sightseeing routes, which we found very helpful (we even snapped a photo!). As it was our first time in Chengdu, we were unsure where to eat, and they enthusiastically recommended some fantastic local eateries; the food they suggested was indeed delicious. With all the nearby *chuanchuan* (Sichuan skewers), Sichuan cuisine, and hotpot, we came back to the hotel one evening smelling distinctly of hotpot. Wanting to get some early rest, we asked the front desk if they could help dry our clothes and return them to our room the next morning. They agreed without a moment's hesitation, which was incredibly thoughtful and considerate. The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was also delicious, especially the *chaoshou* (Sichuan wontons). The staff in the restaurant were very attentive and provided great service too. Our initial reason for booking this hotel was its geographical location, and it truly lived up to our expectations. It's perfectly situated, very close to all the major attractions such as Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Kuanzhai Alley, Wenshu Monastery, Wuhou Shrine, Jinli Ancient Street, and more. Overall, it was an extremely satisfying travel experience. Chengdu, with its vibrant city atmosphere and rich cultural environment, left a wonderful impression on us. We will definitely choose this hotel again on our next visit to Chengdu.

The location of the hotel is particularly good, there are many snacks around, you can find a variety of food when you go out, and it is super convenient to eat and go shopping. Xiaolin at the front desk was warm and caring. Not only was she gentle, she also gave us breakfast. The details were full and it made people feel particularly warm. We also upgraded the room type for free when we checked in. The room was much more spacious than expected, clean and tidy, with good lighting and very comfortable living. The overall environment is quiet and comfortable, and the price is super high. It is suitable for travel or rest. It is also very close to the zoo.

FAQs about Chengdu Panda Base

  • Is the Chengdu Panda Base worth visiting?

Yes—It’s the best place to see giant pandas up close, learn about conservation, and meet famous pandas like Hua Hua. The well-maintained habitats and educational exhibits make it a memorable experience for all ages.
  • Which is the best panda base in Chengdu?

Chengdu Panda Base is the most convenient (closest to downtown) and popular for seeing cubs and famous pandas. Dujiangyan Panda Base offers panda “keeper experiences” (e.g., cleaning enclosures), while Wolong Panda Base is in a more natural mountain setting (2 hours from Chengdu).
  • Is it better to go to Chengdu Panda Base in the morning or afternoon?

Morning (7:30–10:00 AM) is better—pandas are more active, and crowds are smaller. Afternoons are hotter (pandas retreat indoors) and busier, but quieter for visiting the museum.
  • How long to spend at Dujiangyan Panda Base?

Plan 3–4 hours—Dujiangyan offers more interactive experiences (e.g., panda keeper programs) and a more scenic, less crowded setting than Chengdu Panda Base.
  • Which is better: Dujiangyan or Wolong Panda Base?

Dujiangyan is better for interactive experiences (keeper programs) and convenience (1 hour from Chengdu). Wolong is better for a natural, remote setting (2 hours from Chengdu) and seeing pandas in semi-wild habitats—ideal for nature lovers.
  • Can I hug a baby panda at Chengdu Panda Base?

No—Chengdu Panda Base does not offer panda-hugging to protect the cubs’ health and reduce stress. However, you can book “keeper experiences” at Dujiangyan Panda Base (for a fee) to interact with pandas (e.g., feeding, cleaning enclosures)—advance booking is required.
